In addition to exploring the beautiful granite mountains and alpine lakes in Desolation Wilderness (near South Lake Tahoe), we’ll teach you everything you need to know to start planning your own backpacking adventures. Some of the lessons we’ll be teaching include map and compass navigation, shelter building, fire building (depending on wildfire regulations), leave no trace ethics, and much more.

Strenuosity: 4 (Attention: While this trip is open to all experience levels, there are some physically demanding aspects of this outing including hiking up to 10 miles in a day with a 30-pound backpack at elevation)
