Spartan Recreation offers students the chance to participate in epic Outdoor Adventures like hiking, camping, surfing, rock climbing, and mountain biking.

All outings are led by student leaders and local experts who are ready to share their passion and outdoor knowledge with you.

No matter your experience level, you won’t find a more welcoming group to wander, connect and grow with.

Upcoming Trips

All Outdoor Adventure Trips are for all skill levels. Beginners are not only welcome, but encouraged to join us!

Angel Island Hike and San Francisco Adventure

  • Trip Dates: 10/26

  • Trip Location: Angel Island/San Francisco, CA

  • Registration Fee: $50

  • Registration Deadline: 10/21

  • Trip Brief: We have an extremely unique hiking opportunity that you cannot miss out on! Join us on a hike of the historic and stunning Angel Island. This island provides stunning views of San Francisco, where we will be taking the ferry to and from. After our hike, we will spend some time experiencing this iconic city. Trip will depart on 10/26 and return to campus on the same day. Transportation, ferry fees, and expert trip leaders are included.

Big Sur Camping

  • Trip Dates: 11/1-11/3

  • Trip Location: Big Sur, CA

  • Registration Fee: $150

  • Registration Deadline: 10/28

  • Trip Brief: One of the most anticipated trips of the semester is here! Come and camp with us in California's famous Big Sur region. Trip will depart on 11/1, camp out in the Big Sur area, and return to campus on 11/3. Transportation, all camping equipment, camping permits and reservations, and expert trip leaders are included.

  • Refund Deadline: 10/25

Biking in Monterey

  • Trip Dates: 11/16

  • Trip Location: Monterey Bay

  • Registration Fee: $75

  • Registration Deadline: 11/13

  • Trip Brief: This is our final trip of Fall 2024! A must for anyone who wants to enjoy the picturesque views of Monterey. Trip will depart on 11/16 and return to campus later that day. Transportation, bikes and biking equipment, and expert trip leaders are included. Beginners are welcome, but knowing how to ride a bike is required.

Visit the Front Desk at the SRAC to sign up. Trip prices are for current SJSU students only with a valid SRAC membership, unless a non-student pricing is specified.
