Located about 30 miles North West of San Francisco, Point Reyes National Seashore is one of the best locations to backpack in the Bay Area. This trip will be jam packed full of wildlife, fantastic views of the ocean, and plenty of good company. You can expect to hike 4-8 miles per day with a large backpack carrying your food, tent, and clothing for the weekend.
